Business is booming at the corner of 1450 South and River Road near Summit Athletic Club, a familiar landmark. The adjacent land, however, has remained vacant for decades — until now.

“People have been asking me for 20 years when they’re going to get retail development growth here,” Callister said. “Well, we’re here, folks!”

Today, it’s finally filling up with plenty of retail and restaurant options, including Starbucks and the popular J. Dawgs hot dog bistro. Callister said there’s also rumors about a Sprouts Farmers Market coming in, along with places serving pasta and donuts plus a nail salon.

On the north side of the intersection, along the banks of the Virgin River, a new Rampage bike shop location is currently under construction. Local foodies can also look forward to the arrival of Roni’s Mac Bar, a Texas-based eatery that went viral for their fresh take on American classics like macaroni and cheese, this summer.

“Every day, it looks different,” Callister said. “We have so much new commercial growth. It’s really exciting, but it’s hard to keep up with.”
